Lincoln's in Turquoise

This baby was born to wear turquoise.

It's the color of the outfit I chose for him to come home from the hospital
before I even laid eyes on him.

I can't get enough of this baby in turquoise.

Can you?

Christian's Hand Surgery

2013 proved to be the year of hospitals for our family.  Lincoln was born in August, Christian got hand surgery in October, and then Ethan's eye surgery was in December.  We're hoping to avoid the hospital this year!  But we feel blessed to have had wonderful doctors and surgeons and to have made the most of our deductible last year.  (Hence the reason for packing it all in.)

Christian has had a trigger thumb his whole life, that I discovered when he was two...

And only in the last couple years did I learn that it was something called a trigger thumb and could be easily fixed.  So we saw a doctor who suggested we wait and see if he might grow out of it, so we waited about a year, but he was still having problems with it popping out and getting stuck, about once every other month.  He would freak out when this would happen and act as if his hand and even arm were paralyzed.  So we decided to just go ahead with the surgery, since he was almost seven and that was the age they usually grow out of it by.

It all went very well!  Christian was such a trooper.  So brave and I think I would say even a little excited to get it fixed and to get all the attention.  Usually Ethan gets all the medical attention, so this was new for Christian.  :)  And when it was time for Christian to walk off with the anesthesiologist to get prepped for the surgery, he didn't even flinch and went right along.

He came out of the anesthsia really calmly and never complained of any pain in his thumb after that.  We had it wrapped for a couple days, and then just had a bandaid over the incision, and now his thumb is straight!  It took a couple weeks for him to dare use it more than just writing (it is his right hand), and then a few more for it to straighten out, but it's just about as straight as the other one now, and doesn't ever pop anymore, which is the best part of all.
Just waking up, watching cartoons

Ready to go home!
