Christmas Outing with Grammy

Grammy took the boys on Trax downtown to see the gingerbread windows at the Grand America, stopped and got dinner after, then took them to her house for cookie decorating and Christmas chimes.  These are some lucky boys!

Lincoln in December, 16 months

Lincoln has been getting into all kinds of mischief lately. Maybe it's because he's a fourth child or because he has to entertain himself lots of the time or because he thinks he's so grown up like his brothers...whatever the reason, we still think he's pretty darn cute and laugh at this little guy we have ruling our house. Here's a little glimpse of what he's been up to:

Brings me his empty plate, please feed me mom! Tries to get his own food.

Swinging outside in a jacket in December! We won't complain!

Helps himself to the pantry, gets down the raisin canister and parks himself in front of my bedroom for a snack. Funny boy!

Gets an apple out of the fridge any time it gets opened and walks around taking bites, like he's all grown up! :)

Insisted on keeping this big sippy cup in his hood after Ethan planted it there. Ball in his mouth, sippy in the hood. He was loving it!

Caught him in the flour while I was cutting raw chicken and couldn't do anything about it! He was so pleased with himself! Can you believe he can unscrew those gamma lids all by himself?

Anytime the bathroom door gets left open i find Lincoln in there on the stool sucking on the toothpaste. Lincoln, the toothpaste eater. :)

What mom? This is yummy cake! Lincoln managed to devour this much of Christian's birthday cake while Jake and I were right there in the kitchen busy making Borscht and didn't even notice! Thank heavens for frosting to cover up the damage! ;)

Making Brachleys!

This is a tradition that Jake grew up doing and he was so happy to be making them this year! (I have no idea how to spell Brachleys, but that's how you say it). We also made some bowls to eat peppermint ice cream and hot fudge in on Christmas Eve.  Too bad I forgot to buy the ice cream ahead and the stores were sold out. And too bad I was puking on Christmas Eve and didn't eat anything anyway. We'll try it again next year! :)

Lights on Temple Square

It was an unusually warm and dry December so we decided to brave taking the boys to see the lights on Temple Square this year, something we have never done before. We had a good plan--go down early, eat dinner at City Creek food court, then walk over to see the lights. It turned out that the rest of the valley had the same plan! The lines were a mile long, the kids were hungry and it would have been an hour wait in line at least! So we came up with a new plan and grabbed a couple Carmel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory instead (which I had BOGO coupon of course), called that dinner and headed over to see the lights. Despite the crowds it was still a lot of fun and a total success!!  And we did stop for a real dinner on the way home. :)

Just a wonderful evening as a family!

Family selfie! We're all in...see Owen's forehead? :)

I love being on temple square at Christmas time with Jake! 10 years this year! And I love the cute photo bomb in the corner too! ;)

Annual Gurr Gingerbread Houses!

Another successful year decorating gingerbread houses at Grandma and Grandpa's! This year we downsized the houses to get two out of one cookie sheeting gingerbread, and they are the perfect size. It's fun to see how more impressive they are looking each year...the kids are quite talented!  Megan and Simon both had some impressive landscaping, and Christian put sports logos on his all on his own! And Ethan's just fits his personality perfectly! I love this kid!

Christmas Jammies!

My mom always used to make us jammies for Christmas, and I loved getting them on Christmas Eve and wearing them and always wanted to carry on that tradition. (Although she made us cute flannel nightgowns, which were way more impressive! Good thing I have boys 😄)

Well I finally managed to make some Christmas jammies this year! I gave them to the boys Thanksgiving weekend so they could wear them all month and I was so pleased with the result, I think this will become a yearly tradition! I just loved seeing those boys bounce around in their green and red Christmas trees (and trust me, there was LOTS of bouncing around all month!), and especially loved seeing Lincoln's little bum toddle around in them! Yep, definitely going to do this again next year!

Christmas Tree Hunt 2014

Another successful Christmas tree hunt with the Merkleys! This time we took all the boys and Aunt Melissa joined us too!

Lincoln stayed at the fire with aunt Marie and napped on her lap while we hiked for the tree. What s good boy!

Such a beautiful day!!!
