We're going PRIVATE

After much debate with myself, I have finally decided to make our blog private. I know this might cause some inconvenience for some of you, but I hope you will still keep up with us! I will try my very best to invite any and all who want to read our blog, but my brain is sure to forget some.

So PLEASE leave a comment on this post if you would like to be invited to read our private blog! (And if you don't think I have your email address, leave that too.) Or send me an email, that works too. :)

Weekend in Wallsburg

While Jake's brother, Taylor and his family were visiting, we had the whole family together for a few days in Wallsburg.

FRIDAY we stopped in Park City for a little shopping at the outlets, while the boys golfed at Mountain Dell. We all met up after lunch and headed to Toy Story 3! We loved it, and the boys lasted almost the whole movie. Jake ended up taking Ethan down to the floor for the last little bit.
SATURDAY we played outside in Wallsburg, played with squirt guns, went on a walk and found an awesome deal at a yard sale (a $5 bike rack for our car!), and did the Alpine Slide. I'd never done it before and it was a lot of fun! Christian LOVED it!

Eliza and Ethan...such a cute picture!

All the grandkids (until November)

SUNDAY was Father's Day and it was wonderful to spend it with Jake, as well as his Dad and Grandpa. We also managed to snap a family photo of us all, that is currently up to date.

Ethan, 15 1/2 months
Ethan is such an easy photo subject and he was being such a ham posing for me I couldn't resist taking so many pictures!
Here is the handsome father of our home. What a wonderful guy he is!

MONDAY was boating day! And wouldn't you know, I have no pictures of that event because I forgot my camera. The water was FRIGID and Connor was the only one brave enough to ski, but we still had a fun time in the boat!

We also went to the famous TRAIN STATION in Heber for dinner and learned that Ethan loves fry sauce! He really loves to dip anything.
After dinner we headed through Heber to Memorial Hill, which gives you such an incredible view of the whole valley. What a beautiful place! Ethan liked looking at the airplanes in the sky.

After Memorial Hill we ventured to the Huber Farm, a historical site that originally belonged to Jake's relatives. It was neat to read their stories and learn more about our heritage. This is the story of how Johannes Huber learned about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rachel's Birthday

One perk about living close to family is being around to attend birthday parties! It's been so fun! Happy 3rd Birthday, Rachel!

A Day in Huntsville

June 4, 2010

We spent the day up in Huntsville to visit with my Aunt Peggy and Uncle Evan and their two cute kids, Sasha and Luka, who were visiting from London. It was the first time I'd seen them since they had kids, and it was so fun to be with them!

Ethan LOVED the sandbox!

The swings are always a big favorite, especially the tire swing!

The kids loved the yummy frosted graham cracker sandwiches

Alphabet Jump

June 8, 2010

This was a game Christian and I played during naptime. I wrote all the lower case letters on the patio, and when I said a letter, he had to jump to it from the last letter. Simple? Yes. But he loved it!

CUTE

Christian and Eliza at the park....too cute cousins. :)

Hogle Zoo with Cousins!

June 7, 2010

Two of Christian and Ethan's cousins were visiting at the same, so we all went to the zoo together! We had a great time!

Eliza, Ethan, Caleb, Christian
Ethan and Caleb rode together in the double stroller and had so much fun! Christian rode in Caleb's stroller when he chose to ride.

We saw the baby elephant, which was so cute!
Uncle Connor and Christian

Ethan was so excited about the baby elephant, and all the other animals too. This little guy loves animals!

We took some pictures by this horrible gorilla.

Note to self: never use that as a photo op again.
We rode the train.
You can't leave the zoo without putting your hands on the rolling marble ball in water!
Thanks for a fun zoo trip, Grammy!

Whiskey Springs

On Memorial Day we had breakfast with Grammy, Papa and Connor and Great Grandma and Grandpa at Whiskey Springs. The breakfast was, as usual, delicious! And the boys had a great time being outdoors! Of course they threw rocks in the river, threw a little frisbee, and went on a little hike/walk. I had never been to Whiskey Springs before, but it's a place Jake and his family used to go often, and a place his mom used to go as a child. It was fun to be together!

200,000 MILES!!

On our way home from St. George after the reunion, our faithful 1997 Honda Accord, hit 200,000 MILES!!! It has driven us from Utah to South Carolina to Georgia and back, and many places in between. And it keeps right on going. She's a champ!

The plan was to pull over on the side of the road and take a picture, but the kids were asleep, so we weren't about to stop.
Instead, Jake just gave her a kiss for good luck.

Here's to another 200,000 miles, huh? :)

Family Reunion 2010

Back in May we had a family reunion with my entire immediate family. It was the first time we'd ALL been together in almost four years! (Due to Melissa's missionary absence last summer.) We had such a GOOD time! We rented a house in St. George where we all stayed--six bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a pool, hot tub, and basketball court, with a really nice park right across the street! It was perfect. The babies could nap, the kids slept well (for a vacation), there were beds for everyone, and a foosball table that kept Christian entertained probably about half the time we were there. The Utahns all drove there and the Texans flew into Vegas then drove up to St. George. We all had a great time. And we have 910 pictures and videos to tell all about it. But to spare your scrolling finger and my blog space, I will just share a "few" of the photos and some of the highlights.

First of all, SATURDAY night upon arrival, these three cousins found immediate fun in one another as they ate their bowls of cereal before bedtime.
Christian, Kimball, Joey
And the fun only got FUNNER....

SUNDAY we went to church, which was quite a feat with all the kids in tow, and then did family pictures afterwards.
The WHOLE Gurr Family (all 20 of us)

Me and Meliss....oh how I love this girl!

This is such a classic Ethan look, I had to put it in. :)

MONDAY was a JUST PLAY day! And we did. We played at the park across the street, swam in the pool, and played some basketball!

I love this picture of these four boys!
Simon, Joey Christian, Kimball

They loved to do trains down the slide, until Simon's foot got smashed :(

Apparently there were some very intense competitions in the pool that I missed out on. I came across this video that someone else took that I thought you might enjoy. I did! :)

Christian and Rachel were having so much fun squirting each other!

The adults even snuck away to the park for some Kubb, Ladder Ball, and volleyball, after the kids were in bed (except Caleb, that is). Thanks for babysitting, Grandma!

TUESDAY we hiked Red Cliffs and had a great time!!

WEDNESDAY was Family Olympics! Sponsored by Jake and Joe...thanks, guys!
This picture of all the grandkids cracks me up. Ethan's face is the best. And this really is the best picture we got. :)

On our last night we enjoyed some fun after all the kids were in bed:

late night hot tubbing

moonlight basketball

and nighttime swimming, and laughing about all the things the "last people who rented this place" had done. Joe wanted to leave his mark by sinking the chairs to the bottom of the pool. Don't worry, he didn't actually do it.

THURSDAY we cleaned up and headed home!

And by coincidence, most of us were wearing pink or green!

On our way out of St. George, Jake and I stopped at the St. George LDS temple to show the boys, which is absolutely stunning. You'll never see any building so white! It's beautiful!

We had a wonderful time at the reunion and we're so excited for 2012! :)

Here are a few other pictures that I had to include and some other memories that are worth mentioning:

Rachel and Christian had a fun time playing Hide-and-Seek!
Grandma got in a water fight with the grandchildren. It was quite entertaining!!
Here is the foosball table that created lots of entertainment for the boys! And a few quarrels, as well. I love the picture where Kimball and Christian are fighting over the ball.
Melissa had to work on a paper while we were there. She was such a trooper getting it done while being so distracted by the rest of us!
This is the house we stayed at

and this is the bedroom Jake and I and our boys slept in. Fun, huh?
We ate lots of yummy food and enjoyed all the meals that were prepared. Each family was in charge of one dinner, my parents were in charge of all the breakfasts, and we did sandwiches or leftovers for lunch. It worked out great!

We also enjoyed some relaxing and catching up as well. And there was lots of story time and play time with Grandma and Grandpa. The kids loved that!
We had a double birthday party for the two three year olds, Rachel and Kimball, whose birthdays are just a couple weeks apart.
Overall, the week went very smoothly, except a couple of rough days for these two cute little guys. Caleb ended up at the ER on Sunday, due to a high fever and sickness, and then Dylan wanted some excitedment too, so he went on Monday after pulling down of the very heave, metal bar chairs on top of himself, and giving himself a very defined dent in his forehead. Luckily both boys were troopers and came back in a couple hours doing just fine. We were very blessed to have a great, fun, and safe week!
